“I have read and I accept the terms.” LTC starts from that lie. The platform reviews the terms of use and privacy policies of the digital products used across Africa, and makes the result readable by anyone.
The grade, and what stands behind it
Every product gets a grade from A to E, computed from its analysis points: good points count for one, bad points take one away, blocking points take three. A product can therefore hold many good points and still drop because of a single blocking clause.
What sets LTC apart from existing tools is the frame of reference. Clauses are checked against African law: the Malabo Convention, national data protection acts, OHADA. Not just the GDPR. The reference base holds around fifteen texts, from the Togolese Constitution to the Ghanaian Data Protection Act and the Senegalese law.
The public side
- Search a product by name or category, with trending ones surfaced
- One page per product: the grade, a plain-language summary, the analysis points with the exact clause quoted, reputation and the documents reviewed
- A contributor area: submit a product, apply to join the reading team
- A written methodology explaining how grades are assigned, with a matching FAQ
The administration area
This is where the real work happens. LTC is a curation tool, not a blog: behind the public site sits a full back office with its own visual theme, in the same colour family but a darker ebony.
- Curation workbench: for each product, source document management, plain-language summary writing, adding and rating analysis points, version history, publish or unpublish
- Criteria reference: analysis points are typed and sorted by topic, jurisdiction and venue, arbitration, transparency, data retention. Each criterion carries its default rating
- Law base: the texts that carry authority, with their jurisdiction and scope, maintained in the admin and cited by the analyses
- Dashboard: product count, open reports, documents to review, work queue and the A to E grade distribution
- Annotations and submissions: community contributions land in the admin for review
- Audit log: every administration action is traced
- Settings: covered countries and product categories
- Roles: member, contributor, reviewer, administrator, with manual promotion to reviewer
One principle holds end to end: the AI pre-analyses documents and suggests points, a human always validates before publication.
Tech stack
Next.js with the App Router and TypeScript. Data goes through Drizzle on PostgreSQL. The public site is static, the administration is dynamic and protected. SEO is handled in code: per-page metadata, sitemap, robots, and Product and Review structured data for graded items. Transactional emails go out over SMTP with React Email templates.
